  1. If I could created the perfect government it would include a little bit of nationalism, constitutionalism, and democracy. Nationalism helps benefit the people by uniting everyone since the people would share similar customs, language, and sense of identity. Nationalism would create an increased self government and popular sovreignty as well. Constitutionalism would contribute to guaranteeing the people rights with a written form of law. This is necessary because I feel like all people should be able to have that assurance that they will always have rights and will always be protected no matter the circumstance. I feel like if democracy is also apart of this and the system is actually done correctly it could have a positive impact. The people do need a say in government, and that being said the people's votes and ideas have to actually count for something. Anyone would be able to contribute their opinion and view on a topic to make sure that the majority is pleased with the outcome of certain events. If people worked together and tried to look at how the result will effect their country, I feel like this form of government can be perfected and beneficial for all the people.

    1. I agree with you Kaitlyn, especially on Nationalism and Democracy. Nationalism because I believe that their should be unity, because without unity, I don't think a country can stand on its own, since everyone would be hating each other and be easily invaded by other countries. Also, everyone needs to be heard and a voice and say in the government, so, I do agree on Democracy. So yes, Kaitlyn, I agree with you and your perfect government. good job! :-)

    2. I agree with Kaitlyn, a government that has the good parts of nationalism, constitutionalism, and democracy can create a great government. It will give freedom, chance, unity, and rights to the people and make them happy and if it is done right than it can prevent civil wars and rebellion. If the people work together it can help better the country since everyone is on the same page and can all have say in what occurs. These three componets can better the country and the people and create a stronger country.

    3. I agree with you on democracy because I feel that if democracy was run properly than it would be one of the most fair forms of government. However I do feel tht even when a democracy is run properly, that some people have better opportunities than others. I would try to consider a government that gives its people natural rights yet give them an equal opportunity to be successful.

  2. 2) If I could create the perfect government, It would probably include ideas for each of the other forms of governments we have learned about. It would include the sense of unity that is in Nationalism, since I believe that in order for a government to have attention, the people should have something to support, or have a feeling of unity and love for the land they live on. There would also be Socialism, everyone would be considered equal to help support each other and bond, so their is no higher benefits for the rich or the poor, but we would learn to support each other, and to know that no one is greater or lesser but considered equals. There is also democracy, where everyone has a voice and idea, and it will be heard, since everyone is considered equal. There are laws to follow, but they are not unjust, they are reasonable in the way that the people can agree and enforce as well. That is my idea of a perfect government.

    1. I agree that a government should include some ideas based of nationalism and democracy for the purpose of unity as well as people having a say in what goes on in government. I disagree with socialsim being part of this system though, because no matter how hard we try equality is almost impossible and the truth is there will always be some type of advantage one person has over the other. I do like the idea of socialsim, I just don't know how it would work, but besides that I like the perfect government you created. :)

    2. My perfect government is really similar to yours actually. The only thing I would disagree with is the Nationalism because i don't think that would really help. As seen in history, Nationalism led to imperialism that wasn't always good. While it creates a sense of unity, it doesn't really have anything that is super good that the other forms of governments don't have. The other governments were in mine because they also have really good aspects of them but the application of these forms aren't always the best. Choosing certain ones help to create the ideal government.

    3. I agree with you about your idea of a "perfect government", nationalism is really important because it unites everyone. Socialism because it creates equality between everyone, and democracy especially. Democracy makes it equal for everyone, people will have a chance to say what they want in the government. Good job!

  3. My ideal government is a land of freedom and opportunity and where everyone is proud to live in that country. A land full of patriotism and chance. I like the idea of what the founding fathers of this land thought of. A land full of freedom and a place to where you can reach your dreams. I like the ideas of a President and the people voting for the President because everyone should have a say. Everyone has a chance to do everything they want and people are equal in rights, but if a person works hard he or she deserves to go up and make more money and do what they wish and a person who doesn’t work as hard or put in the effort shouldn’t deserve a promotion. Everyone is considered in rights and have all chances to reach opportunity. I like the American system where everyone is free and are given the same opportunity as another. I like having a president and congress, but I want congress and the President to be able to listen to the people and they should do what the people want and not what they think is right, they should hear out the people’s voice. I propose a town hall where congress and people can gather to share ideas and reach an agreement. The people should be let in and not ignored. I like what President Abraham Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address in 1863, “ a government by the people and for the people.” I wish a country of unity and love and where a country can be free and everyone works together to better it and where power isn’t everything. Yes, people should help each other but not be forced. Everyone is free and everyone has their own money and decide what they should do and not be thrusted upon rule and power and anarchy. I like the system of the American system in which the founding fathers created and not what it is today.

The new political ideas that came about during this era broke away from traditional, perennial beliefs. For the most part, they brought a sense of unity and strength in a time where this was exceedingly hard to find. These beliefs ultimately led us to where we are today and it can be said that we owe our very existence to many of these belifs.

If you could create the perfect government, what would that government be like? Would it include ideas from any of these political movements? Be specific and feel free to compare your ideas with any previous or present forms of government.

My perfect government would consist of a democracy, but not exactly what we have here in the US. Instead, I would make everything run by the people and the government would maintain somewhat detached stance in the making of new rules and policies. In terms of the economy, my “perfect government” would have a sort of lazzi faire stance on businesses to allow the economy to prosper on its own.

If I could make the perfect government it would integrate the form of democracy and constitutionalism as it was one of the better forms of government and did a better job at representing and looking out for the people of the country. Even though Democracy has its flaws and is often taken advantage of I still feel its one of the closest attempts to perfect there is, when dealing with a nations population its impossible to please every single resident. Democracy does its job by guaranteeing people the right to choose their leader, and a constitution comes into play to ensure that the president does not have complete power over a nation.

The idea of Democracy is well thought out and is made to please the people. In a perfect government, it would work out well and the majority of people would be happy.

I think that if I could make a perfect government it would be small because any big country is bound to have problems because not everyone will agree all the time. It would take aspects of democracy, socialism, and constitutionalism. My people would be ruled by a constitution that everyone agreed on, they would elect leaders sort of like the house of representatives but these representatives would be connected to the people more. The government would pass laws but the people would be free to do whatever they wanted. The people that are elected have to pass strict tests and MUST have the peoples good in mind. The people that would elect these leaders would have to be educated and understand the ramifications of who they choose. The problem with the US government is that there are too many people to govern and everyone in charge has their own ideas that they want to support. It causes conflicts which is why nothing ever gets done. The Ancient Greeks did their government very well because the people that were in charge were educated and knew what they were talking about when they discussed issues.

FGJKLEDSFGTOLK people are naturally stupid and greedy. ( the end of my tangent)

If i could create a new and perfect government it would be a mic between socialism and democracy. Socialism does sound right by having the government control a lot of the power and i like that it pays for your education, house, bills, whatever, but it wouldn't be as severe and more like communism. It would be a democracy where people could vote for who they want and NOT have electoral college votes like today, popular vote would win. The elected officials must be educated, but not take a test like Confucianism or whomever took that test wayyyyyy long ago. Also my perfect government would make it so that everyone has to praise me on sundays or whenever you feel its necessarry, you can have your religion and believe what you want but you MUST praise me in some way for creating this awesome government. Also in my government there will be this system where if your in college and you know what you wanna be you do half of your years as an internship and half as a student. Basically switching one week in school and one week working this way you get to feel whats its actually like.

I think there is no such thing as a perfect government because in order to have a perfect government every single person part of it would always have to agree and that could never happen, even if they do speak the same language, have the same culture and live in the same region, everyone has a different opinion. That's why I think nationalism doesn't really make a difference because it doesn't really change what people believe in and what they think is right. I do believe, however, for there to be a good government, democracy is very important. Everyone should have a say in what goes on in their government. I also think it's important that the government doesn't overpower people's lives. Of course government is important because without government we would have no order or unity (socialism also being an important factor), but government shouldn't become the basis of people's lives. I also think that government shouldn't cause chaos, for example if people don't agree, it shouldn't break out into wars or violence, a government should be open to all ideas and opinions, rather than focus on just one side.

My ideal government would have high taxes on luxury items (like if someone has enough money to blow on a private jet, the jet should be heavily taxed, but not things like a computer, which everyone needs), a constitution or Bill of Rights, which can be altered if the majority votes for it, and of course, the unity and togetherness that you get from Nationalism. First off, like in a democracy, the people will have the right to vote for their choice of representatives, all of which will have report to the government and give in a list of questions and concerns of the people, monthly, as well as seek to solve the particular problems in that district within that same month. Furthermore, the taxes collected on items listed as “luxury”, or things you don’t really need to survive, will be heavier than that of necessities like food, which will have little to no taxes. Additionally, all of the rules and regulations will be available to people to view both online and in governmental offices (which there will be one to two per zip code area depending on size of the area). Like in the Qin Empire of China, if a person decides to break the law, severe punishment will be the end result, but like always, as violence is never the answer, the culprit will have the right to choose from a list of punishments which depend on the severity of the crime committed (if a man stole bread, he will have to do 200 hours of community service, etc.), all of which are usually non-violent. My government will not be allowed to track user data and history of people using the Internet, unless the person is a suspected criminal. Every year, my government will take an accurate census, and will give tax breaks to those under the poverty line, and will take from those who make more than they need. Furthermore, education will be free, unless a child is failing his or her classes (if medically excused, will not have to pay), which will result in the parent’s not only paying heavy fees to compensate for their child’s failure to do well, but also risks having the child kicked out of school for good.

    2. Ruchi, I agree with you on how you said to raise taxes for those who can afford it because I was thinking the same thing. I always hear on the news how middle class to upper class will be paying extra taxes, but I don't think thats fair for those in middle class because they aren't always able to afford the new taxes. The whole thing about kicking kids out of school scares me. I don't want to be kicked out of school, but I mean if you fail that is their fault. But what would happen to them? where would they go exactly? and what would they do? This might sound weird to refer this idea to a book/movie, but in the movie Divergent if you get kicked out of a faction you become faction less, in a sense homeless. That may sound drastic for and education but without an education where do they go? :( sorry i don't want to sound mean I was just curious! Overall I really like your form of government is a great idea and seems pretty fair to the people !

I think my perfect government would be kind of like a mix of socialism and communism. I do not think that everyone should be equal in everything but I believe main things like poverty and hunger should be canceled out with this new type of government. With the new type of government people would go on with their daily lives as usual but the government would focus tax money and funds on canceling poverty and hunger so that there is no lowerclass anymore. Also the government would help pay for things such as health care, car insurance, schooling/education throughout college and further, also pay for hospital bills, mortgages, and public water/gas. It would pay for the main things and items such as food, clothing, and electronics would have to be bought on the citizen's salary. I think this type of government is good because we do have a democracy in the United States but are things actually good at the moment? Nope, wars, battles, death, poverty and a declining economy labels the democratic government as a mistake and I believe that compared to my government, my government comes out on top.

    2. I agree with your ideas to cancel out main issues such as poverty and hunger. My only question is where would your government obtain money besides taxing the higher class to cover all of the expenses you mentioned. I think that the Upper Class/Echelon of people wouldn't like to pay taxes to eradicate the lower class and cover all of the necessities needed in your country. I think the repeated taxes of the upper class will cause a schism between the higher classes of people and the government. This would leave lower classes stuck in the middle.

My ideal government would integrate Nationalism and Constitutionalism. I feel that Nationalism would unify my people depending on the size of my country. I think the smaller the country the more effective Nationalism will be. With the people of my country unified I would advocate for adherence to a constitutional government. I would try to elect officials that were highly educated. Unlike China's system of educated officials that all served a despotic ruler, I would try to let people's voice be heard and try to make our country as successful as possible. I would endeavor to make anyone and everyone feel safe once they enter my country regardless of a person's ethnicity, race or religion.

    2. While I do agree that nationalism and constitutionalism are both incredibly important for a county, you are still missing an actual type of run government that can control or not control the people. If you have something like a democracy, republic, or anything else, you would at least be able to determine how the country was run, not just how the country is as a culture. Once you have that one more thing, I believe your country can be almost as great as mine.

If I could create the perfect government I think that I would have to include a constitution which can also be altered as we do in today's society as well as including all three aspects of the political ideas (Nationalism and democracy). By having nationalism, socialism and democracy it would cause a fairness to all people in my society. Nationalism will allow the people to feel as if they belong to a strong society and they all fit in with less division in the society. Democracy will allow people to have a say in the government so they don't feel like they are being run or commanded to do things but just have a way to help run the society as a whole. Those who are elected as government officials won't be able to just be put on through a few votes, the people will have the full say in who they want.Kind of like the Ancient Greek societies, where they could vote for the government officials but if they don't for fill their duties or don't for fill the peoples expectations they can be voted off. I would also make sure that those who have money will be more taxed, because looking at today's society the upper class doesn't have to pay as much which is unfair. If you have all this money you should help out a little more than the rest. I would also want to make sure that their is separation between church and state, because there are many issues in our society today that involve state and religion even though we say there's a separation between the two. As we talked about in class today I would't want all people to pay for school, I think that education should be free. Everyone should have a right to be able to have an education. If they keep their grades up they won't have to pay for college but the pay for college will not be as expensive as it is today.

  13. If I could create a perfect government It would include people of all races and nationalities, in other words it probably wouldn’t be a lot like Nationalism. Although Nationalism leads to people all being the same, the same race and having the same religion, that would lead to the people in the government being very discriminative, thinking they are better than everyone else. Ultimately it would probably lead to a lot of wars. In my perfect government, we would not isolate ourselves from the rest of the world, but we would avoid war at all costs, that just leads to deaths and money being wasted on weapons and such. It would not be anything like Militarism. I believe there shouldn’t be just any one person in charge, I feel like this leads to everyone just blaming that one person. If there was no elected official people there would have to be set laws, and these laws should apply to everyone, everyone would be equal, and then there shouldn’t be as much disagreement. It would be a little like Constitutionalism, everyone would be guaranteed equality and rights.

  14. If I could create a perfect government, it would contain a little bit of democracy, communism, and nationalism. (I know, I'm a commie but I don't care #sorryimnotsorry.) I feel that the people should have some part in the government, while everyone is being paid an equal amount of money. Everyone should also indulge in a form of unity that is granted by a government that follows nationalism. The people should have a say in the government, since a democracy is run by the people for the people. This gives the people some say in the government, so that they don't complain over the fact that they can't control anything that happens in the government. Communism also brings unity in the distribution of pay. I believe that in my hybrid class, each person should get paid equally based on their profession. If you're part of the proletariat class, for example, then everyone should get paid equally or if you're a doctor then every doctor should get paid equally. That way, no "proletariat uprising," promised by Marx, will ever occur in MY society. I know that this communist government will work because I'm not Stalin, killing millions of people with my police force and exiling thousands of more people, so that's always good. Nationalism could also be a good thing in my government. It could bring an upsurge of well needed unity and confidence needed in my society. Overall, my government is going to be made up of democratic communists that feel proud of their contradicting views. Fun.

  15. If I were able to create a perfect government, it would be a place with several different nationalities, religions, true freedom for the people and also enough money to pay for living, and not such enormously high taxes. Since this is the case I would want my government to have some aspects of Nationalism as well as Democracy and socialism. I would want to make sure that everyone would earn a substantial amount of money and not pay a ridiculous amount of money for school, housing, etc. I would also want my government to be united and do everything for the people, instead of for example Militarism where everything was for the military not so much the people or even the government. I would also make sure that the government where to be very diverse so people could get used to other races and religions surrounding them and hopefully not discrimination as much. I would also like to make make friendships around different parts of the world and hopefully completely avoid senseless wars over childish things. It would also be important to share and not be so greedy as a government so we could also make sure benefits are provided for all the people. For example as for health care i believe to have a perfect government everyone should be provided health care because it should never be seen as a business, because peoples own being and lives are being at stake. I believe by having socialism, nationalism and a democracy it would make everything fair for the people that follow the government. I would also want to make sure that everyone has a sense of security, but not rely heavily on military and machinery for the military because it makes it seem as if it a threat towards other countries, it would be a lot easier if people weren't ignorant and didn't start wars, it would be a lot easier if there were understandings between nations or even a good friendship. Another thing that would be important would be the people in office, obviously people would have to be intelligent to be in office, but it should include many different diversities s religions to make it fair for the people and make sure that everyone has a voice. That being said I believe my government would be the best way to carry a society and make everything as equal and peaceful as possible.

If I could create the perfect government, my government would include ideas from both democracy and nationalism. Democracy, as it grew out of eighteenth-century conceptions of Greek democracy and Roman republicanism helped many European states become more democratic by the end of the century. New states adopt more democratic constitutions and political class grows. Nationalism is the idea that all people who speak the same language, historical experience, and sense of identity belong to a nation that is indivisible. I feel that these two combined will unify my people, and will benefit them as a whole as it increase freedom, and rights. This would be an effective way to solve issues such as providing the people with the basic needs: food, shelter, education, health insurance, etc. In an ideal government, people should have the opportunity to voice their opinions without having the fear of being judged. Of course, there will laws to be follow, but it is not unfair or prejudiced. It’ll be in a way where people can agree on and be treated as equals. Lastly, my ideal government would be open to all ideas and new concepts, instead of focusing on just one position. This will ensure unity, justice and equal rights.

    2. I disagree, the only reason you may believe democracy is great is because the government has you under the influence that it is good. Yes freedom of speech is great, however is it really as free as you may think? CIA agents have been running around because people spill government secrets which the government hides in the first place....THAT DOESNT MATTER THOUGH, however a deomocratic society can lead people to go bankrupt with low job incomes and high taxes and education fees and health fees, people can really pile on the bills. Therefore a communist nation could help because we can reduce poverty and actually help the government debt as well

  17. If I could create a perfect government, it would include political ideas from the 18th and 19th centuries, such as nationalism, democracy, and socialism. Nationalism would unite everyone by creating a language and belief that would be the same for everyone. Nationalism is really important because if a country is just mixed with different people, with nothing in common, they won’t ever get anywhere. For example, India, (after the dbq essay, one of the documents said) India lacked nationalism. Therefore, they were really unorganized. India was one of the countries that didn’t benefit from imperialism because of their lack of nationalism. Everyone being the same is almost like communism, except in my idea of a perfect government, my government would have democracy. In a democratic government, people choose who rules them, people need to have a say in government. The least they can do is have the right to choose who represents them. An example of a democratic country is (kind of) America right now, we vote for our president. After the majority of the votes win (voted by the people), that candidate becomes the president, and it’s their job to represent the people and try to help the country. The idea of a democracy will allow the people to have a say in government, it makes it fair for the citizens. Socialism is also really important because it will help the people feel “equal”. It would eliminate the rich and poor class, instead, everyone would be the same. The rich will help the poor, so the rich won’t have too much power over the poor. By having nationalism, democracy, and socialism, the government will be fair and equal for the people. This is my idea of a perfect government.

    1. I disagree with your post when you stated, " Nationalism is really important because if a country is just mixed with different people, with nothing in common, they won't get anywhere[?]". The United States has always been mixed with different people and at one point in history did get somewhere. It ironic to say you want to build a government where everyone has the same language and belief when your excluding people who are to different(that's not very democratic). Other than that it was a well written paragraph.

  18. If I could create the perfect government it would be free from nationalism because nationalistic ideas narrow peoples thoughts and separates one from the rest of the world. Due to the belief that one is superior or better than another person. It leads to ridiculing everything that is different from one’s culture, rejecting new ideas, and discrimination. However, a government free from nationalism and founded on constitutionalism would be the ideal government to me. This is because laws are just if everyone follows along. A system of laws that are enforce would also keep order. Certainly if I could create a government where its base would be free from nationalists but with a constitution still establish.

    1. I agree with your post when you state that, " it would be free from nationalism." I believe that your statements are right and that it does lead to people being narrow minded if they already aren't. The world is a huge place with so many new beliefs, ideas, thoughts and inventions coming up left and right. It would be a pity for people to deny themselves everything that is out there.

  20. If I could create the perfect government, it would consist of nationalism, socialism, republicanism and constitutionalism. These three aspects are the best (when used properly), because they allow for there to be a central government that shares a similar background and culture with the people, and by having a proper constitution, leaves little room for corruption. Nationalism is incredibly important, because while diversity and melting pot cultures are nice, by being around the same type of people you relate to, there is less room for controversy and bias towards a single rule. Socialism is great, because it leaves room for people to be prosperous, all the while giving everyone the ability to live a good life, regardless of who they are. If someone works hard, after they are taxed, they still have leisure money, while someone who barely works and gets the same governmental benefits, has no real leisure money to work with. It's capitalism, just better for everyone. Republicanism is important, because democracy leaves too much room for dumb people to get into governmental positions. Republicanism allows for the people who most embody the country get chosen (most of the time) meaning that a stronger smarter government that works for the people will be chosen. Lastly, you must have a constitution, because whenever you have a change in power which is dozens of times maybe hundreds of times in a nations history, peoples ideals change. By having a set constitution, the country's people can be assured of what their elected official can and can't do. Overall, with these ideas all infused together properly, you would have the best country imaginable (for the people). The only thing this country lacks is foreign affairs and relations, because when you have one culture only, it is hard for others to interact with something so different from theirs.

    1. Zach, I agree with the ideas of your perfect government. If they are used properly, each would definitely shine in its own light. Your government sounds like it will be balanced out and fair to most people. I liked how you mentioned the good side of each government and put it all together.

  21. Ha, what I great question how would my government be? Well, My government would not be any of the ones included in the text. My government would be based off of a anarchy. But why? I feel as in order for people to have real freedom, they should be free from any form of government.

BUT..... thats my own opinion, however if I wanted to make a more healthier choice of government I would make a communist government. I feel as if America Nowadays has too many homeless people, they live their life on what the government pays them. How does that help though people would just cry bankrupt and get paid for doing nothing. Therefore a communist nation can help this solution because everyone gets paid equally and free health care and education... Wow, America charges WAY too much for education and health care and they have these really difficult systems in order to apply for both! How is this helping? With a communist like government people can get things done and get paid that same. HOWEVER, for people that work hard SUCH AS DOCTORS NOT! ACTORS OR ATHLETES!, they should get paid a little more because they are actually helping the people. The government should have most of the money to improve their towns.

However I do not like government systems, If I would I would just learn things on my own and create my own rules for myself and not have the government tell me what to do. The government keeps a lot of secrets from us so we never know what is really true and what is not true. This way in a Anarchy people can actually know things by themselves and not have to worry about other countries wanting to kill us, but that is just my opinion

    1. I agree with you especially when you say that we shouldn't pay athletes and actors as much as we do now. I also like how you talk about poor people and how if we were communists we wouldn't have so many poor people. Maybe you should run for president with this idea of what America should be.

    2. Your ideas are interesting, and I especially like what you said about doctors compared to actors. I agree that those who work hard should be rewarded the most in the end, and it is nice that you want everyone to be healthy and able to learn. But I have to disagree with you about anarchism in general, because human beings have shown too many times in history to be incapable of peacefully managing themselves, mainly due to the lust for power or otherwise the inability to ever come to an agreement that would satisfy both parties (what ends up happening is both parties lose something they value just to come to terms, making them angrier in the long run). Anarchism cannot work because without stability and a guiding hand to tell people how to live and offer them nuances to improve their lives, it would quickly become unpopular and lead to great amounts of violence, which is never a good thing (such as the 1997 Albanian rebellion).

    3. I agree with you when you say that the government should pay athletes more than doctors. Doctors help people and for instance baseball players make a career based off of the preferences and they dont really do anything for anyone besides win games. However when you state that government should have most money to improve towns is unnecessary because in this day in age the government has most of the money and still the streets are not getting fixed, they are full with potholes.

  22. If I can create perfect government then I would most definitely take ideas from each of the government. Since every government have their pros and cons and to see it in reality there can't be anything "perfect", I would take the good things from each political thoughts that has been brought up during the 19th century. Nationalism would have brought the people in the nation together and unite them within their cultures. Just like Italy was united through nationalism, if I were to create my government, then I would include a bit of nationalism so I can unite the people within my own country. Also republicanism would be included in the government that I would create because if democracy takes too much space then there would be people who really does not know the law to get involved and make trite decisions, which in many case will bring chaos. So little bit of democracy and republicanism would be included just so there will be balanced. Socialism is an important part too because it gives more order in major industries. If every government is used in a right way then there will always be good results, but it just seems to be the people who rules and takes control over it because they are not perfect. Although there cannot be a "perfect" government, it still can be improved.

  23. If I could create the perfect government I would have a little bit of nationalism, a little bit of constitutionalism, and a pinch of centralization and bureaucratization. The reason why I would want nationalism is because nationalism was all about unity. There are many examples that show this like Italy, Germany, and France. Italy united everyone in their peninsula. I would also like to have constitutionalism because there should be limits on government. One example on constitutionalism is America, and it's good that we have limits on government because they can't go power crazy. Finally I would want a little bit of centralization and bureaucratization because they industrialized and it created longer and more complex economies. I think that economies need to be one of the strongest aspects of a government.

    1. I disagree. I think nationalism was bad because it eliminated diversity and to live and be prosperous I find diversity to be needed so people can continue learning and explore their possibilities from different types of people. I also wouldn't want to shut out one kind of person just because they don't fit the majority of my people.

If I could create the perfect government, I would base it around the idea of a democracy. In class we discussed how the idea of democracy is actually kinda great, but it just doesn't work out too well. I believe that our government has become a consistent circumstance of the people being afraid of their government and it shouldn't be that way. The government should be afraid of the people. The power would be in the hands of the people willing to take a stand, willing to fight and willing to work for what they believe in, what they live for. It would have a Constitution, just like we do, it wouldn't be perfect. But that's what revising is for. Everyone should have the same rights, gender, race etc shouldn't play a role in any of that. Also, as stated above by Jasmine, It would be a nationalism free government. People are different in so many different aspects, be it religion, dialect, race, beliefs etc and it should all be allowed. No specific group of people should be separated due to one thing they have in common. It takes away the unity of a nation.

However, I agree with you when you say that no specific group of people should be seperated due to religion, dialect, race, belief etc.

If I can create the perfect government, it would consist of socialism, nationalism, and democracy. I think it’s important for people to be able to do things other people can like go to school, the doctors, etc even though they may not be able to afford it. I also don’t think people should pay for much for taxes if they’re lower class. Most of my government’s money wouldn’t go to the military because I would want a government that’s ‘cool’ with other countries. I would want a democracy so it isn’t a dictatorship or just one person is ruling the entire country. I would want everyone to have a say in the country. However, some people are smarter than others, and some people are better educated than others. Therefore, people who are better educated would have a bigger say than a person who isn’t well educated. For example, when we vote for the president, each vote wouldn’t weigh the same. A doctor’s vote should be more ‘valuable’ than an unemployed citizen. No matter how bad that may sound, I don’t think everyone is necessarily “equal.” I think it’s okay to be separated by class, but I wouldn’t want a place where people are separated because of race or religion or ethnicity. Does that make sense?

  27. 1. New political systems brought in different forms of running governments not seen before on such a widespread scale. Nationalism encouraged formerly seperate, but similar cultures to take up arms and join together, forming new large empires in Europe. The adoption of constitutions gave new rights to the people as a whole, while still ensuring that governments would prevail in the end. As populations increased, government's role took a larger stance than before, and as a result bureaucracies were set up to efficiently manage the many different issues faced running a state, and to tackle business owners and the demands of the working class. Democracy gave all (excluding women or minorities in some areas) the right to vote for their leaders. Socialism guarenteed workers rights and control of government to promote fairness for all. Communism took this further and made use of a planned economy, where idealogy dictates the actions of the proletariants.

    2. My preferred way to run a government would be through bureaucratization primarily, to ensure that everything is done the way it needs to be done for the good of the people rather than the interests of one ruler. Socialism is a generally fair way to rule, because it discourages monopoly-built economies and allows everyone to have at least the basics with which to live by. I highly discourage communism, because history has shown that it has led to devastating results on societies that adopted it too soon, and too rigorously. I don't think centralization is such a good idea however, because larger powers have a wide spectrum of peoples, and they may not wish to answer to a government run hundreds of miles away from them. Bureaucracies solve this issue by allowing the appoinment of territorial governers, that I would hand pick by experience and moral values to not abuse their office. I would advocate for nationalism, as it is the easiest way to unite far away peoples to be loyal to their government, without hopefully having to deal with frequent uprisings or rebellion. Thus I would want a government that is fair to the people, that punishes those who do bad, and remain consistent throughout the land, even though policies may have differences in far away areas.

  28. I think my perfect government (or however close to perfect it could get) would be a crazy mush of all of the political movements we heard about. Okay, maybe not exactly, but we'll see how close I can get. Constitutionalism brings to the table a set of rules that literally governs the government and I really like that idea because too much power in one person or one group of people could go to their heads if there isn't something setting boundaries. I think Nationalism is a stinky idea because if there's no diversity, there's nothing to learn. So having one nation of just all the same people wouldn't be in my best interest. Centralization and Democracy are conflicting, so I think if we merged them and gave people the right to vote but only smart people who could make decisions that look at the big picture and not just the here and now would be great (although impossible). Socialism wasn't too bad of an idea, so I think incorporating that in would work too, just that the government doesn't dictate that much money. Maybe enough to cover schooling BUT THAT'S IT. A persons hard earned money is their money and they should do what they want so yes in the end my government will be one that will never happen and one thats highly jumbled and confusing :)

  29. 1) Review the new political ideas that were created and popularized during the 18th and 19th centuries including nationalism, constitutionalism, centralization and bureaucracy, democracy, socialism and communism.
To be completely honest all of these ideas sound great in theory, nothing ever works which is kind of depressing if you think about it.
For one nationalism, again in theory, is great – but put it into action and what you get is a bunch of racists because they think they’re country is the best. Because of nationalism, if you think about it, all the people in the world would think their specific country is the best, when you put that into action it leads to a lot of dislike of others, heightened feelings of superiority and a lot of dislike for the Jews… again. Constitutionalism again sounds good but then what happens when the ideas no longer are viable to the situation in a country? If it’s too hard to change or fix than it doesn’t work so then that country can no longer really be helped by that constitution. bureaucracy, democracy and all those like it again should work but in the case of democracy it doesn’t always work out because people want to stay in power instead of helping their country, thus whatever they do for that country will only have immediate success and not long term because “that person might not be in power down the line so it’s the next guys problem” as my father says. Socialism again sounds like a pretty good idea taking money out of everyone’s pay check so everyone can have necessities sounds good but then it seems like the government has too much power; If the government was to say that it was a necessity to buy everyone pink hair dryers than all that money out of peoples pay checks would then be used to buy those FOR EVERY ONE it’s a constant struggle between control and the well being of the people. Similarly in communism as shown through our experiences with it, it gave the government too much control thus leading to extreme poverty so everyone could live alike, it was no longer the poor leading everyone because those people become corrupt with power (or so I assume because people really like power). So once again in theory everything works, but when faced with the greed and stupidity of man, nothing works.
    2) If you could create the perfect government, what would that government is like? Would it include ideas from any of these political movements? Be specific and feel free to compare your ideas with any previous or present forms of government.
It’s hard to create a perfect government because after learning that NO GOVERNMENT WORKS it’s just a bit misleading to “create your own” if you know in advance that people will corrupt it. I guess my idea of a perfect government would be part socialism, beurocracy, and republic. Because I don’t trust that the general public has any idea what goes on I would not insert free adult vote because I does think an uneducated person should be able to vote, thus in order to vote you need to at least have your bachelors degree or something equivalent. You don’t need to be a citizen but you need to live here for a certain number of years. There would be money taken out of every ones money (taxes I guess like socialism) to pay for necessities (schools, roads, public buildings, food, etc) but not as much as socialism so a good maybe 40% because than depending on how much you make the more you are entitled to so if you give up more, you get more back in the long run and if you don’t have anything to really give up you receive what you need. Again this is flawed because people don’t like to give up their money, or wait to be reimbursed so it wouldn’t work but the idea to mix up an educated vote with socialism is probably a good idea.

Be specific and feel free to compare your ideas with any previous or present forms of government. If i created the perfect government it would consists of the old ideas. For example Socialism, I believe that socialism is a relatively good way to live but it could be debatable because of the fact that people work a lot of hours for their money and the government takes three fourths of it. If a man makes 100,00 dollars a year, 75,000 would be taken by the government to pay for education, buildings, housing etc. and you will never starve, you can always rely on them. On the other hand many would disagree with it because people work hard for their money so it can be taken away and people would not agree with that.
